Photos of a 9-member chinese girlgroup 爱朵女孩 (‘Idol Girls’) circulating on the internet has been the topic amongst netizens.
They were seen in similar concepts with Korea’s So Nyeo Shi Dae, and while they were rather successful, they have also earned some negative comments from the netizens where they were called the ‘fake’ So Nyeo Shi Dae.
According to Chinese portal sites, the average age of Idol Girls is 18 years old, they are also known to do acting, modelling and MCing outside singing.
Also, photos of other groups said to be ‘cover’ versions of Korea’s WonderGirls and So Nyeo Shi Dae were also the topic amongst netizens. The photos of other groups in similar pose and costumes as Korea’s girlgroups were being circulated online.
One of them is group ‘严当当 (Yen Dang Dang)’ who was said to have plagarised So Nyeo Shi Dae’s ‘Gee’ choreography as reported by the news in August.
Korea’s netizens’ comment were “Since it is the exact same, you don’t call it plagiarism but parody”, “I like it when the Chinese follow us”, “We are being followed because we are popular” etc.
